After jumping out to a 15-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Riders had a sloppy second quarter to trail by 10 at the half and were never able to recover. Stuart Quinn lead a balanced Roosevelt scoring attack with 12 while Garfield's Holmes lead all scorers with 21 (including 5 3-pointers).

Vs. Bothell: Dec 9, 2002
After staking the Cougars to an early 14-5 lead, the Riders fought back to cut the deficit to only 23-20 at the halftime break. Bothell's lead grew to 11 as the Riders only scored 2 points in the third quarter, but the bench quintet of Chris Kong, Kyle Maitre, Tim Franco, Sam Harrington, and Zak Fairbrook kick started Roosevelt by giving the club solid minutes and cutting the lead to 7 thanks to tough defense and several Franco 3-pointers. The Riders mounted a frantic 4th quarter rally, scoring 20 of their 42 points.
A balanced attack of Aaron Hunter, Carlos McArthur, Stuart Quinn, Joe Gallant, and Thomas Bohan all scored big baskets down the stretch, finally cutting the Cougar lead to 43-42 and getting the ball back for a final shot with 15 seconds remaining. Unfortunately the Riders' last attempt rimmed out and time expired on the hard-fought game before Roosevelt could get another shot up, allowing Bothell to survive the thriller.

Vs. Newport: Dec 10, 2002
Roosevelt started hot, outscoring the Knights 19-15 in the first quarter with Stuart Quinn leading the way with 8 points in the quarter. After a hard fought second quarter, Newport led at halftime 27-24 with the McDonald twins combining for 21 of the Knight points. But Roosevelt came back strong again in the third quarter and early into the fourth quarter when the Riders lead by as many as 7 points. Aaron Hunter's heady play and 9 second half points lead the Roosevelt resurgence.
But Newport would get the final say in this see-saw battle, coming back under the 4th quarter outside shooting of Corey McDonald and slashing drives of Sean Kharani (who both scored 8 points in the quarter) to win a tight, comeback victory. Hunter lead Roosevelt with 14 points, and hot-starting Stuart Quinn finished with 11. Corey and Casey McDonald lead the Newport effort with 17 and 13 respectively.

Vs. Mercer Island: Dec 16, 2002
A disciplined Mercer Island team jumped to a quick 12 point lead in the first quarter, with the scoring of Jordan Siek (6 points in the quarter) and Ryan Iani (5 in the first). At the half, the Islanders still clung to a 10 point advantage, but a 3rd quarter rally led by the offense of the Roosevelt's Thomas Bohan (10 points in the third) narrowed the gap to 30-26 at one point. But this was as close at the Riders would get, as Mercer Island once again stretched out the lead and held the ball at the end of the game to secure the victory. Bohan led all scorers with 15, while Iani and Siek finished with 13 and 10 respectively for the victors.

Vs. Woodinville: Jan 6, 2003
The Roughriders started hot, hitting their first three shots of the game and opening a 6-0 advantage. Woodinville fought back to knot the score at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter. Scoring picked up in an evenly-matched second quarter. The Falcons eventually outscored Roosevelt 21-19 in the quarter to take a slight lead to the locker room. Woodinville's Knutson lead all scorers in the first half with 10, while Thomas Bohan lead the Riders with 9 first-half points. Zak Fairbrook chipped in 7 as well.
Roosevelt came out strong again at the beginning of the third quarter, retaking the lead and building it to a 6 point advantage in the middle of the quarter. But Woodinville fought back to regain the lead by 5 the end of the third, stretching it to 9 points at the mid point in the 4th. Roosevelt fought back, pulling within 4 points with 50 seconds left in the game. Woodinville turned the ball over several times, as well as missing the front end of a 1-and-1, but the Riders were unable to capitalize and get any closer than the 4 point margin. Woodinville finally hit two free throws with five seconds remaining to finish the scoring and provide the final margin of victory. In the end, turnovers were too much for Roosevelt to overcome.
Roosevelt's Stuart Quinn lead all scorers with 19 points while also dealing out several nice assists from the high post. Thomas Bohan chipped in 16 points for the Riders while Joe Gallant supplied excellent post defense and boardwork. The double-digit, inside-outside scoring tandem of Jareot and Knutson (15 and 16 points respectively) lead a balanced Falcon attack.

Vs. Redmond: Jan 17, 2003
Because the game conflicted with a JV game, this contest was an opportunity for many 4th team players to step up and get their first 3rd team experience. The young Riders hung tough throughout the first half and made a run at the beginning of the 3rd quarter to narrow the gap to 4. With 4-4 shooting from 3-point range, Aaron Hunter helped keep things close, as did Ilya Kiselev's 6 second quarter points. But Redmond established control later in the 3rd period and eventually took as large as a 16 point lead in the 4th quarter. Trips to the free throw line proved to be one of the big deciding factors in the game, with the Mustangs going 18-23 from the stripe while the Riders could only muster 1 made foul shot (in just three attempts). Redmond's balanced scoring attack tallied 4 double-digit scorers while Aaron Hunter lead the Riders with 12 points.

Vs. Franklin: Jan 24, 2003
The rematch to the Quakers' closely-fought Dec. 2nd victory at Franklin (53-46) was never really in doubt. Franklin jumped on of the Riders by scoring the game's first nine points. Roosevelt finally got on the board with an Aaron Hagen free throw. By the end of the first quarter, Franklin had stretched the lead out to a 22-10 margin. Tim Franco did his best to help keep the Riders in the game by scoring 5 points in the quarter, while Rommel Sijera broke into double-digits early with a 12-point first for the Quakers. The second quarter was more of the same as Franklin extended the margin out to comfortable 42-23 advantage entering halftime. Sijera scored another 7 in the second to total 19 in the half, while Daniel Vasquez joined him in double digits with 10 in the first half. Aaron Hagen and Thomas Bohan led Roosevelt in the half with 7 and 6 points respectively.
The beginning of the second half was all Quakers as they used a 28-5 third to put the game away. The Riders bench made things interesting in the 4th by playing even basketball with Franklin's bench. The quintet of Sam Willingham, Chris Kong, Dustin Jensen, Matt Reilly-Crank, and Ilya Kiselev displayed hustle and played aggressive basketball at both ends of the court to tighten up the final score a bit.
Rommel Sijera's final tally of 30 points led a foursome of Franklin players in double-digits, while Aaron Hagen's 10 and Aaron Hunter's 8 topped the scoring column for Roosevelt.

Vs. Garfield: Jan 27, 2003
A see-saw first half which included multiple ties and lead changes came to an end with Garfield holding a slight 22-21 edge going to the locker room. Aaron Hunter led the Riders with 8 while Kyle Maitre added 5. Both Jeffries and Harris scored 6 points to lead the Bulldogs in the first half.
After the break, Garfield did their best to put Roosevelt away, outscoring the Riders by a 22-12 margin in the third period. Garfield's Harris and Tinsley scored 8 and 6 respectively during the Garfield third-period binge. Chris Kong's two driving layups near the end of the third helped keep things close.
Garfield stretched their lead to 12, their largest of the game, at 48-36 early in the fourth quarter. Led by the scoring punch of Thomas Bohan (11 points in the 4th quarter) and renewed team efforts on the defensive end and boards, the Riders came roaring back. A 17-4 Roosevelt run was capped by an Aaron Hunter 3 pointer with 1:48 left in the contest. This gave the Riders their first lead (53-52) of the game since late in the second quarter. After Garfield's Wells sunk one of two from the line the teams traded quick baskets, after which the game was knotted at 55-all. Both Roosevelt and Garfield had posessions down the stretch but were unable to convert as time ran out with the game still a tie.
In the first overtime, Roosevelt drew first blood on its initial possession on a runner in the lane by Zak Fairbrook. Garfield answered minutes later on a tip by Bulldog post Hamilton. The rest of the overtime was a strategic and defensive affair with neither team being able to reach the scoring column as the extra period ended in a 57-57 draw.
The second overtime was an offensive run and gun affair with Garfield being able to outlast the Riders for the victory on 7 points by Holmes (including 2 3's) and solid free throw shooting (9-11 in the 2nd OT period) in outscoring the Riders by a 17-8 margin in the period. Both Garfield and Roosevelt had 9 players in the scoring column. Thomas Bohan led all scorers in a losing cause with 24 points, while the Riders' Aaron Hunter chipped in with 13. Harris lead 4 Bulldogs in double-digits with 17 points for the victors.

Vs. Mercer Island: Jan 29, 2003
After the double overtime loss two days before, the young Roosevelt squad came out flat, emotionless, and without energy against a tough Mercer Island sophomore squad. When you put those two ingredients together, there's usually trouble. The Islanders jumped on Roosevelt right from the onset, using a 17-3 edge in the first quarter and 22-9 advantage in the second to take a 39-12 lead at half time. Five Islanders scored 8 or more points in the drubbing (with Jordan Siek leading the way with 17 points), while Aaron Hunter paced the Riders with 13. The lack of effort allowed the Riders to return to the Roosevelt gym post-game for a special practice.

Vs. Eastlake: Feb 1, 2003
Wearing retro uni's from the 80's for the "Turn Back the Clock Game", the young Roughriders came out pumped for the contest. Ex-Sonic Jack Sikma's low-key attendance (his son Josh Sikma plays for Eastlake) at the game also added to the energy in the gym. The Riders jumped on the Wolves, building a 18-10 advantage by the end of the first with Thomas Bohan (7 points) and Aaron Hunter (5 points) leading the charge. Roosevelt maintained their advantage during an evenly-fought second quarter, allowing them to take a 34-25 lead to the locker room. Matt Reilly-Crank and Thomas Bohan both scored 9 points in the first half to pace Roosevelt, while Wood led Eastlake with 7 first-half points (all in the first quarter).
During the first part of the third quarter Roosevelt was able to maintain their lead, even extending the margin to 10 points at 40-30. Unfortunately, this is where the wheels came off the cart, with the Wolves outscoring the Riders 31-10 during the late third and the fourth quarter to take the lead and pull away for the victory. Wood led four Wolves in double figures with 11 points, while Matt Reilly-Crank finished with 11 in defeat for Roosevelt.

Vs. Ballard: Feb 3, 2003
Roosevelt came out on a mission in the contest. Using a balanced first-quarter scoring attack (7 different Riders scored in the first) and tough defense, Roosevelt jumped to a 18-14 lead after one quarter. Aaron Hagen and Joe Gallant both scored four points in the first quarter to pace Roosevelt. The Beavers' Mace Rakestraw led Ballard with six first quarter points but was thwarted in the rest of the contest by foul problems and a tough diamond and one defense.
Ballard fought back to take the lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Riders 23-14 behind the three-pronged scoring of Collin Belcher, Andy Robbins and Erik Kruse, who all tallied 6 points in the quarter. The second-quarter spurt allowed Ballard to take a 37-32 edge into intermission. Ballard's Erik Kruse and Andy Robbins both scored eight points in the first half to lead the Beavers. Thomas Bohan's 7 and Joe Gallant's 6 led the Riders at the halfway point.
In the third period Tim Franco and Dustin Jensen caught fire, combining for 11 of the Riders' 17 points in the third and allowing Roosevelt to close the Ballard advantage to one point at 50-49 at the end of three. The stage was set for a epic 4th quarter. Roosevelt's tough defense and clutch free throw shooting allowed them to pull to a 7 point lead (at 60-53) with several minutes to play, but Ballard fought back. Tim Franco hit several free throws with 2.5 seconds to play to give Roosevelt a 3 point lead. Ballard had one last shot to tie, but a closely contested 3-pointer missed at the buzzer allowing the Riders to secure the 66-63 victory.
The difference in the contest was Roosevelt aggressively attacking the basket and getting to the free throw line. Roosevelt was 33-48 from the line in the contest while Ballard was only 13-21. Tim Franco, Thomas Bohan, and Joe Gallant all scored in double-figures (with 14, 11, and 10 points respectively) leading a balanced attack which found an impressive 12 players reaching the scoring column. Erik Kruse led the Beavers with 15 points in the loss. The victory allowed the Roosevelt to sweep the season series with Ballard.

Vs. Bothell: Feb 7, 2003
Aided by Aaron Hunter's seven first-quarter points, Roosevelt stayed close through one quarter as Bothell held a 17-12 edge at the end of the first. The Cougars continued to pull away in the second period (outscoring the Riders by a 10-6 margin off 8 points by Castle in the quarter), but the Riders were still well within reach, with a 27-18 deficit at the half.
Bothell played the second half with only 5 players available for action, as one of their starters (Hendrickson) went down with an ankle sprain. It didn't slow down the Cougars much, as they outscored the Riders 31-19 in the second half to seal a 58-37 victory. Four Bothell players finished in double figures, with Musseau and Castle leading the way with 16 points each. Aaron Hunter was the only Roosevelt player to reach double-digits, scoring 10 points in the losing cause. Tim Franco and Kyle Maitre chipped in 9 each for Roosevelt, with all Maitre's points coming in the second half of the contest.

Vs. Inglemoor: Feb 10, 2003
The penultimate game for the Roosevelt 3rd Team against Inglemoor turned out to be another thriller for the Riders. After Inglemoor scored the first 4 points of the game, the Riders outscored the Vikings 18-9 the rest of the quarter to hold an 18-13 advantage after one. The lead stretched to as much as 9 midway through the second before the Vikings came roaring back to tie the score at 28 at intermission. Aaron Hunter poured in 13 points (including 3 treys) to lead Roosevelt, while Inglemoor's Howard led the Vikings with 6 in the first half.
The teams fought to a stand still in the third, finishing knotted at 41-41 entering the fourth quarter. Dustin Jensen scored 8 in the third for Roosevelt to help them keep pace with the Vikings. The fourth quarter was just as evenly fought, with neither team getting a clear edge or taking a big lead. Finally, with the game tied at 51, Roosevelt got the ball with under a minute left and held for the final shot. Dustin Jensen was able to slip free from his man along the baseline with under 10 seconds remaining but his shot rimmed off and as did Inglemoor's desperation shot at the buzzer. The game headed to overtime.
An out-sized Rider team gave maximum effort on defensive and on the glass throughout the contest, but a couple of missed free throws (Roosevelt was a collective 9-18 in the game while the Vikings were 16-23) and missed opportunities on offensive possessions down the stretch in regulation came back to haunt the Roughriders in overtime. The score was tied at 57-57 with under 2 minutes remaining in the extra period, but the Vikings went on a 5-0 run to finish out the game and take a dramatic and hard-fought 62-57 overtime victory.
Roosevelt's Dustin Jensen led all scorers with 18 points. The Riders' Aaron Hunter and Kyle Maitre also finished in double digits with 15 and 13 respectively. Roberts led three Inglemoor players in double digits with 15 points.

Vs. Marysville-Pilchuck: Feb 13, 2003
A well-disciplined Marysville-Pilchuck used a quick start against a young but game starting lineup for Roosevelt (composed of Sam Willingham, William Cutter, Chris Kong, Matt Reilly-Crank, and Ilya Kiselev) to jump to a 17-6 advantage at the end of one quarter. Led by Dustin Jensen's 9 second-quarter points and aggressive board work, the Riders fought back in the second period, narrowing the gap to one (26-25) at one point before the Tomahawks extended their edge back to 8 (35-27) at intermission. The Tomahawks' Thomas led all scorers in the first half with 10 points.
Marysville-Pilchuck's stingy defense held Roosevelt's 3rd quarter lineup (consisting of 3rd-quarter starters Thomas Bohan, Aaron Hunter, Aaron Hagen, and Dustin Jensen) to only 3 points (on 0 FGs) in the entire third period, allowing the Tomahawks to stretch out the lead to a comfortable 16 point margin by the end of the 3rd. Early in the 4th quarter the margin reached 21 (51-30) for the Tomahawks. But the Riders did not give up. Fighting back behind Thomas Bohan's 14 4th-quarter points, they were to get as close as 9 points (59-50) with little more than a minute remaining in the contest. This was as close at Roosevelt would get though, as the Riders had to resort to fouling and the Tomahawks made their free throws down the stretch to secure a 67-53 victory.
Lillgreen led Marysville-Pilchuck's 5 double-digit scorers with 13 points, while Thomas Bohan scored a game-high 16 for Roosevelt. Dustin Jensen finished with 10 for the Riders in the losing cause. The game was the season finale for both clubs, with Roosevelt completing the 3rd Team season with a 3-14 (3-10 League) record.
